When the hard seltzer craze took over a few years ago (although the first venture—now discontinued— actually came out in 1993), it became hard to find a brand or new concept altogether that didn’t want to hop on that train.
Soon, you’ll be able to try most of them, when Seltzerland hits the City of Brotherly Love for the first time in June.
The traveling event from Cannonball Productions has already hit major cities across the U.S., but first debuted at Chicago’s Cog Hill Golf Club in August 2020. Each session featured brands big and small, such as White Claw, Mike’s Hard Lemonade Seltzer, Vizzy, Topo Chico Hard Seltzer and BuzzBallz, all serving up a variety of beverage samplings, with local food trucks posted up on-site as well.
“With new brands and flavors of hard seltzer popping up every month, we wanted to create an opportunity for fans to explore their palates, and brands to showcase their variety through an immersive tasting experience,” said Cannonball Productions CEO & Founder Kate Levenstien in a statement.
While at the Philadelphia Navy Yard (747 S. Broad Street) on June 4, there will be over 100 unique hard seltzers (and RTDs or, ready to drink brands) on-site, while guests can peruse the venue’s vendors which span from local names (such as Two Robbers), to more nationally-known favorites like Smirnoff and Vizzy.
At Seltzerlands in the past, there have been a few different ways to enjoy the drinks: Some offer straight-up (and reportedly generous) pours, while other stands, such as from Fireball and the 99 brands, were offering mix-and-match shots with a Deep Bay seltzer while in DC—jury is still out on whether that will be the same in Philly, but both names are on the list.
Also those RTDs we mentioned earlier? Technically, they can blend in as seltzers, but the latter has to be a malt-based like beer, while the ready-to-drink beverages can be made with liquor or anything else. And Philadelphians will be able to taste of slew of them and more (think Cantina, wines and even Vitamin Water) while there.
The one-way tasting trail will also have stops with photo opps (think swings, tropical activations and Navy Yard views), games and more while you pass through with your drawstring bag to grab merchandise from around the site.
It’s all for some good as well— the event will also act as a fundraiser for the Committee to Benefit the Children, a nonprofit whose mission is to provide resources for treatment, care and family support to benefit children with cancer, leukemia, sickle cell anemia and other serious blood disorders, seeking treatment at St. Christopher’s Hospital in Philadelphia.
As their website states, to ensure attendees get the most out of the Seltzerland experience, Cannonball Productions will be hosting 2 sessions on June 4. The first is set for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the second from 3 to 5:30 p.m., with VIP attendees getting to enter 30 minutes early (11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.)
There are two ways to experience Seltzerland, with both General Admission and VIP tickets being offered.
General Admission tickets begin at $35 and VIP tickets start at $55. VIP ticket holders will get a bit of extra bubbles per se at the event with that extra half-hour, plus a full-sized can of hard seltzer, a specialty cocktail, 10% off merchandise, and a commemorative Seltzerland tasting cup.
After Philadelphia, the hard seltzer festival will also head to Boston, Chicago, Milwaukee, New York City, Denver and Minneapolis.
